SOUL MEDICINE
Entheogenic drink.
The medicinal drink Ayahuasca is a brew consisting of two native plants of the Amazon, the liana (Banisteriopsis caapi) and the leaves of the shrub Chacruna (Psychotria viridis). In Quechua language this means "vine of the souls". It is also referred to as Santo Daime, Yage, or Caapi among other denominations.
The use of ayahuasca goes back more than 5000 years and still lives as magical, religious and therapeutic knowledge today. When it is linked to a genuine spiritual path it is of great help in the evolution of human beings.
Ayahuasca is drank in ritual ceremonies. Besides being an interior cleansing method that works simultaneously for the physical, energetic and psychic body, it is also a gateway to altered states of consciousness, allowing us to observe realities hidden in ordinary circumstances. This situation leads to an opening to superior knowledge, reconciling us with life, with others, with nature, the universe, with ourselves and with the Divine.
Ceremonies and rituals with ayahuasca.
Real and intense processes are triggered in body, mind, emotions and spirit. We confront and solve our most profound anxieties, revitalize life energies and awaken a higher level of consciousness, opening ourselves to our "inner teacher". The Ayahuasca ceremony opens a connection with spirituality that will last a lifetime.
Ayahuasca is not addictive.
The teacher drink Ayahuasca contains natural chemicals that can cause intense visions and acutely sharpen the senses. These and other effects lead human conscious-ness into unprecedented mental states, inexplicable and mysterious, both revealing and wonderful. It is a non-addictive drink - much rather it expands the mind and serves as a means to obtain a personal mystical-spiritual experience.
Its components and their effect on our organism:
The vine Banisteriopsis caapi contains tetrahydroharmine (HHT) and its alkaloids Harmine and Harmaline. These chemical elements are concentrated to a ratio of 0.02 mg avoiding all kinds of contraindications that may affect human health risks.
The leaves of the bush "Chacruna" (Psychotria Viridis) have a high concentration of dimethyltryptamine (DMT), which is a powerful hallucinogen of short duration. If ingested alone, its absorption by the body is prevented by the enzyme MAO present in the intestine. The vine (Banisteriopsis caapi) contains Harmine and Harmaline and neutralizes the enzyme MAO, allowing the DMT into the bloodstream. Its effect on the body therefore has an average duration of four hours.
The DMT (alkaloid) increases the concentration of three neurotransmitters in the brain: serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine. This psychoactivity is natural to the human brain, e.g being the activator of sleep. People with acute schizophrenia have an increased activity of dopamine as well. Ayahuasca intake is not recommended in those cases.
The basic mechanism of Ayahuasca is a flooding with serotonin, a neurotransmitter with multiple and complex effects on the human body and brain. It is important to note that your body naturally produces large amounts of serotonin in two moments of life - at birth and at death. Patients suffering from depression have low levels of serotonin. For them it is very advisable to drink ayahuasca to treat themselves.
